Artist: Jere Allen “Woman”

This painting, “Woman,” is a multi-media piece by the talented Selma, AL artist, Jere Allen. He taught art for a number of years at the University Mississippi. He now spends most of his time working in his Oxford, MS studio. The piece measures 4” wide and 6” high.

A slightly larger piece is currently being offered at a well-known southern gallery for $800.

Thom Wheeler “Garden Flower”

The round piece is by the widely collected New Mexico artist, Thom Wheeler. It is entitled “Garden Flower” and is done in copper and bronze on a wood base. It measures 26 ½” in diameter and is about ½” thick. It is one of the earliest works by Wheeler, as it dates to 1979.

It was recently appraised at $4,300.

C. Dawn Davis “The Initiate”

The piece, entitled “The Initiate,” was painted by Georgia artist C. Dawn Davis in 2004. It is an oil painting on Masonite and measures 27” (w) x 21” (h), framed.

We have a certificate of authenticity from the artist, with an appraised value of $3,000.

Purvis Young “#497-16T”

The piece, entitled “#497-16T,’ is by the well-known folk artist, Purvis Young (1943-2010), who lived and worked in the Overtown area of Miami, FL. The work is in paint on plywood. It features two large figures in green, and smaller figures in grey, brown, yellow, and orange. It measures 12” (w) and 29” (h).

It was recently appraised at $3,000.

Purvis Young “#49845”

The piece, entitled “#49845,” is by the well-known folk artist, Purvis Young (1943-2010), who lived and worked in the Overtown area of Miami, FL. The work is in paint on plywood. It features abstract figures in white, blue-green, and yellow-gold. It measures 10” (w) and 26” (h).

It was recently appraised at $1,800.
