PAWPRINTS
As a photographer, my work is driven by a desire to live a life that I am passionate about. It is my belief that if I focus on work with purpose and passion, there will always be motivation and inspiration to create. My love of photographing dogs has been a way for me to find joy and purpose with my life-long commitment to photography over the past 30 years.
I draw inspiration from the complexity of everyday moments, the individual personality of dogs and the unpredictability of dog behavior. — translating these impressions into visual narratives that encourage viewers to find their own connections through their personal experiences with the dog. Each image is an invitation to experience sporadic and personalized moments that so many of us share with our own fellow canine companions.
Paw Prints allows viewers to engage and focus on the personal identity of each dog; showing their purpose, their charisma and their unique personality through the art of black and white photography; creating a timeless love affair with “man’s best friend”, the dog.

Although these pieces are not limited to a single genre, they are united by vibrant color and consistent technique. They are acrylic paintings on canvas, created with palette knives, layering color to add texture and depth, resulting in bold, impressionist works.

Sorting out Everyday Beauty
This body of work is an exploration of many of the Mississippi Delta’s Flora, Fauna and Fabrications.
Mary Ellen has been painting En Plein Air and by direct observation more than ever this past year. So much, that painting from a photographic reference just doesn’t have the same challenges or appeal to her as they used to have.
There is nothing like being outdoors and experiencing the elements while trying to stay focused on a subject while capturing sunlight that is ever changing!
